Essay writting is often organized according to the Introduction - Body - Conclusion (IBC) pattern. Each part of the essay has specific functions that serve important purposes.
The Inroduction
- Gets the readers interest
- States the topic
- States or suggests the writer's purpose for writing
- States the main idea of the article or eassy (called the thesis statement)
The Body Paragraphs
- Presents main supporting ideas for the thesis statement.
- Gives supporting information, examples, and explanations to develop ideas in detail
The Conclusion
- Provies a closing or completion, to the essay.
- Often summarizes or reviews important ideas in the body of the essay.
